PokerStars To Receive Some But Not All Seized Funds
According to SubjectPoker.com, PokerStars will be receiving their funds back from the Department of Justice, but not all of it.
These funds were seized on April 15th, 2011 as part of the Black Friday raid on a few online poker sites where the DOJ shut down poker sites and seized bank accounts that had millons and millions of dollars in them.
The agreement that was reached between the DOJ and PokerStars stated that PokerStars will receive all funds with the exception of $5.5 million dollars that was proven to be funds that derived from poker players in the United States. The $5.5 million will be held until Poker Stars has it's day in court, which has been postponed yet again.
No one knows exactly why this agreement came to be and why PokerStars was granted the undisclosed amount of funds, but it is the first instance where funds have been released back to one of the hard hit poker sites.
