[IMG]I have had many fond memories of Thanksgiving, but the one that is close to my heart is  Thanksgiving of 1975, the year my first daughter Amy Marie  was born.  She was born just a day before Thanksgiving, and let me tell you that little turkey gave me such a hard time coming out of the ovan.  I finially had to have a C-section. I was only in labor about 3 hours, but do to the fact that in June of 1974 I gave birth to my second  baby boy ( who was born on my first son's birthday June 20, 1970 )  who died shortly after birth, my doctor did not want to takes any chances.  I can't  begin to tell you how scared I was. I would not let them put me to sleep, so I had a spinal. I wanted to be awake for the whole thing. My husband was a nervous reck said this is the last one, but I did go on to have anther girl on Decenber 26, 1978. Yes,  I have all  Holiday babies. My first son was born on Fathers Day. Well anyway she was born and thank God she was perfect, 7 lbs. 2oz.  The hospital provided Thanksgiving Dinner  for all mothers, fathers and any  family menbers who wanted to be there. I had a room full of family, so I did have my Thanksgiving as planned, and my little turkey was right beside me , It sure was a day to give thanks. Now she is all grown up and the mother of four.  Happy Thanksgiving to you all.-- Edited by PMM2008 on Saturday 10th of November 2012 08:38:47 AM-- Edited by Mben on Tuesday 13th of November 2012 11:56:43 AM

I click it and it's blank. I right click on it to open in a new tab and the page comes up blank. Usually I can get an image somehow and then edit it into posts, but not this time. [IMG]Can you re-upload it and I'll see if I can see it and then edit it into your post? Thanks!

every year i make candied yams as i have such a huge request for them. i don't use measurements so i will guess about how much of each ingredient is used lol. this receipe feeds approximately 20-25 people   Candied Yams 3 large cans yams or 10-12 large yams cooked peeled and quartered 1 1/2 cups brown sugar 1/2 bottle caro syrup 1/4 c butter or margarine 4 Tbls cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1 bag minature marshmellows preheat oven to 350 degrees in a 9x13 glass pan add the yams, spread the brown sugar completely over yams(if you want your yams sweeter you can add more brown sugar), add the caro syrup, add cinnamon and nutmeg, dallop the butter over the pan of yams. cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 min to 1 hr or until liquid is bubbly. take out of the oven and spread your marshmellows over the yams and put back in oven uncovered bake until marshmellows have a brown crust on them. i usually turn the oven off right before i put the marshmellows on because the oven is hot enough to brown marshmellows, if you leave in to long marshmellows disolve and your dish is liquidy instead of having a caramel type thickness to it. let sit for a few minutes before serving. enjoy!   numbers: 3157

I giggled too about the 20 - 25 people daremeto's yams would feed, Pam. lol I don't eat a lot of yams but your recipe makes them sound delicious, daremeto! tamaroa, I love homemade mac and cheese at the holidays. I attempted to make it a few years back and had a slightly different recipe which called for Velveeta cheese. Well, I ended up burning the cheese and sent the now ex to the store for more cheese. I was so upset that happened. But I ended up making a yummy batch of it and his kids every year after that asked for me to make it for them. I am not cooking at all this year. I will be in Boston for Thanksgiving this and my sis-in-law is Betty Crocker and Martha Stewart all rolled into one. She is a beyond fantastic cook so I will leave it all up to her. (you remember I said I burned my first batch of cheese, right? lol) I'll peel the potatoes. lol Thanks for getting nikki's picture into her post, Pam.

I have a hundred lovely Thanksgiving memories having 4 children and 9 grandchildren but one of my fondest is of Claxton Fruitcake. From the time i was 4 my mother and I would get all dressed up to go to down town Tampa just before the Christmas season. There were booths set up on the corner that sold Claxton fruitcakes. We brought our delicious piece of heaven and always gave put in change to the Salvation Army buckets. These were only available for the holiday season and were a treasured part of Thanksgiving dinner. Once i was grown with children of my own my Mom would still buy the Claxton and either ship it or deliver it. She has passed and I still buy each one of my families their claxton fruitcakes . Each family has someone in it that has the same passion for fruitcake as me LOL . Getting ready to send a Claxton to Michigan now , HAppy Holiday season to you friends! number 1379 thank you

Thanks for entering, Lunadelmar!I haven't had a piece of fruitcake in ages. And because you and you family are as fond of the Claxton Fruitcake, I may just keep an eye and ear open the next time someone offers me a slice. If it's not a Claxton, then probably ,,, no thanks. lolWhat a beautiful cake for the holidays![IMG]

About 10 years ago my wealthy Aunt took the whole family to La Quinta, near Palm Springs. We stayed 4 nights at a posh tennis resort with all of the amenities. Fantastic Thanksgiving turkey dinner with all of the fixins and endless champagne in the hotel restaurant. Then we went to The Spa which is a famous hotel/casino and she handed each one of us $300 to play with. We were dumbstruck, as she NEVER gambled herself !!! My Mom,my Grandma, and myself had a ball. The next morning we enjoyed the poolside Starbucks ! It was sweet. On the way home, we stopped for a couple hours at the Agua Caliente Casino. With the last of my gambling funds, I hit a few nice payouts. Arrived home with, you guessed it,$300 in my pocket. I am gonna pick the year that my beautiful Aunt Mickie was born: 1946
