Thanks for starting the new Question of the Week off, crazysider. I need some digits from you though. And that is what I would change too. Not changing going to college after high school because I did do that. I just never finished. So I'd change to I'd actually get an education . :bonk: <----- maybe I wouldn't be sitting around doing that all day if I had one. lol

I would change one thing  it would be  not letting  my fear of flying stop me from flying over 40 years ago. I have missed out on many places to travel to because of my fear.  On my last plane ride I said I don't want to do this anymore and I have not been on a plane since. When any member of my family is flying I am a nervous wreck . Wish I could get over this.Sloto Cash ID abby14Desert NIghts ID lcavanau#7285

The fear of flying does keep people from going places, that's for sure, nikki. I know a few people who have the fear, one that I flew with and boy, that was a riot. I laughed on the inside as they sat there terrified as heck. Poor guy. lol I love to fly. I guess being an Army brat and flying all over the world kept me from developing the fear. I have to say is that if the plane is going to go down, it's going to go down. There is nothing that you can do but say a prayer. I also know that I am not going out of the world alone. (that's a fear I have. Not of dying but of dying by myself. I'd want someone's hand to hold as I cross over into the unknown. lol) That might sound morbid I know, but it would be the reality if anything went wrong. Thanks for entering and good luck to you!

I know what you mean about crossing over alone. I would be nice to have some there holding your hand, but it does not always happen that way.  Have you ever heard of the poem The Rainbow Bridge, It is the bridge that pets cross over when they die. When their master pass on they meet on the Rainbow Bridge and and the pet  runs to him wagging his tail and forever to be together. It is a very nice poem, I am sure you have heard.Well anyway my fear of flying is keeping me from going to to Bermuda next week with my daughter , her husband  the kids and my son-in-laws's Mom. I have been there before, but on a Cruise ( that I am not afraid of )   My son-in-law has a business trip there, so instead of us going to Maryland to watch the kids they offered to take both of us moms with them, but  chicken me turned down their offer, but his mom is going. Now I will be a nervous  wreck while they are all on the plane. How I hate to be like this, but I am too old to change now.  When my husband  was in the Marines, in North Carolina he  worked on the air field and I saw many plane crashes, maybe that is what did it, because that is when I stopped flying and before that I used to fly a lot even by myself. So that is my story. Silly me. LOL

I have not heard of the Rainbow Bridge and after looking it up, I smiled at the closing line ... Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together. What a beautiful poem. Thanks for sharing, nikki. "
And you are not being silly at all. Your fear is real. But I am going to call you CRAZY for giving up a trip to Bermuda! hahahaha I say that with love!

I would have gone to the classes on Diabetes, so I could have known better what to do when my son, David, got sick.  He was diagnosed with diabetes 2 when he was 17.  A large young man, he was 6'4 , 215lbs, at 19 years old. I was a single mother by choice at 32.  I devoted myself to David, loving him to bunches, and teaching him as much as I could, for he was a phenomenal child, reading and spelling at three.  Stubborn he was, just like his mother, and clingy.  In an attempt to teach him to do things on his own, I insisted he go to the diabetes classes, but he refused, finding one excuse after another. As such, we did not know what to do when his blood sugar raised as high at 600 except to take the medication his doctor had prescribed; he thought the battery on the meter was bad, making strange symbols on the screen.  It was actually saying High Our innocence, or stupidity really, led to the night I found him dead on the bathroom floor after throwing up all day. His heart just stopped.  And in that moment, I lost my only child, the man I had called son and friend for 19 years. I have yet to get past the mourning and depression, even though it has been eight years since he died. I miss him so much; the feel of his skin, the texture of his soft blonde hair, and the sweet smell of him.  But mostly, I miss the kisses I got every day from him, for he loved me as much as I did him.  An avoidable tragedy that I will have to live with for the rest of my life.

Oh, I am Loni. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine the pain you felt and the heartache you still feel. To lose anyone in your life is heartbreaking but to lose an only child? I won't even pretend I understand what you are feeling. I am sorry that you have the guilt though and pray that you come to peace with yourself and know you will see your son one day again. Take care, sweetie. "
I have sent you a PM regarding your entry into the contest.
