New York City Bans BIG Sugar Drinks

What's next? Wow! Really?!?!NYC has passed a ban on large sugary drinks to be sold at theaters and eateries. This includes soda, sweetened teas and other calorie packed drinks. As a poster in reply to this story said, it's a local law and not a national one. Thank goodness for that. If it was a national ban, the feds would love to see me drinking my Kool-Aid (sweetened with 1.5 cups of sugar ) straight from the pitcher! :lol:Read more

According from what I've read, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg claims he will appeal a New York judge's choice to overturn the town's ban on sweet beverages served in cups larger than 16 ounces. Additionally, the ban was supposed to have gone into impact on Tues, March 12, but it was overturned right before. Take a review at here.

This is just stupid. So all it means, should it ever pass, is folks have to buy more drinks, instead of one large one. Hasn't anyone besides me seen this is just a cheesy way to extract more sales tax, and has absolutely nothing to do with obesity? Stop tourists from getting mugged, clean up the ABC's, go do anything positive Mayor Bloom-ing idiot-Burg, and let your residents decide their own dietary fate. Unreal!
