Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City conducted a job fair on Monday as a way to initiate the 7 P's. Those P's would be Prior Proper Planning Prevents Pi$$ Poor Performance.What are they planning for? A strike amongst the 14,000 service workes that make up the Atlantic City casinos and the labor union. They include housekeepers, culinary employees and other service workers in the likes of hotel, food and beverage positions. Many hopeful applicants attended the job fair and weathered long lines and several hours for the chance at an interview. Dennis Gomes who is the chief executive officer of Resorts had this to say We have a fiduciary responsibility to the rest of our employees and our guests to have a smooth continuous operation if there is some kind of strike. We're going to be prepared. Nine out of eleven Atlantic City's hotel/casino union contracts expired last week. Resorts did not have a deadline but has been renegotiating their contract since they changed ownership last year. This comes after the prior owners laid off all of their employess last year and then the new owners rehired most of them back but at lower wages. Earlier in the month, Resorts had protestors who were in search of higher pay at the casino. It was a surprise to many who showed up to the job fair. They did not expect to see as many people show up that had that much interest in a new career. But it was a sign of the times.
