Thanks to Madden NFL 16, we already know who will win Super Bowl 50: The Carolina Panthers, who defeated the Denver Broncos 24-20 in the video-game franchise's annual simulation of the game. Sorry America, it seems you're going to have to learn to like Cam Newton.
In the Madden version of the Super Bowl, the Panthers jump out to a 17-0 halftime lead, with Newton connecting with Greg Olsen on a touchdown pass and Carolina's bruising defense bottling up Denver QB Peyton Manning. But things changed in the third quarter, as Manning hit Emmanuel Sanders for a touchdown and the Broncos' Aqib Talib picked off a Newton pass to set up a field goal.
Denver's momentum carried over into the fourth, as Manning threw another touchdown pass to give the Broncos the lead, 20-17. But then, Killa Cam took over, leading the Panthers down the field and punching in the game-winning score on a goal-line scramble. Carolina are your Super Bowl champions, and Newton was named the game's MVP.
And while you might scoff, maybe you shouldn't: Turns out, Madden is pretty good at predicting the final outcome of the Super Bowl, correctly calling nine of the last 12 winners. Last year's prediction not only nailed the final score, but accurately forecasted that Patriots QB Tom Brady would be named MVP, that New England would overcome a 10-point third quarter deficit and Julian Edelman would catch the winning touchdown pass.
