I know many of you have never surfed, but you need to appreciate this wipeout. This wave has incredible power and is breaking in literally just a few feet of water. Nothing was said on the original post, but survival under these conditions was marginal at best...

Just in case you didn't know, the initial hit on the face of the wave wasn't the big deal - the real danger was being sucked "over the falls" head-first into a coral reef. This is Tahiti - Teahupoo

The surfing videos you post are breathtaking to watch. But the beauty of the waves hides the fact that there are many hidden dangers.

I hope this guy came out alive.

Back in the day, this was considered unrideable. The attempts to conquer it started in the early 1990s with bodyboarders. There have been 5 deaths there since 2000 - not sure if this is one of them...
