>THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FUNNYS! HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AS MUCH AS I......<.                                           >>>>>HUGS<<<<<                                                            ..                                                     >PAM<                                                                         . Here's why .............According to today's regulators and bureaucrats, those of us who were kids in the 40's, 50's, 60's, or even maybe the early 70's probably shouldn't have survived.  Our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paint. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets, ... and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets. (Not to mention the risks we took hitchhiking.) As children, we would ride in cars with no seatbelts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pickup truck on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle. Horrors! We ate cupcakes, bread and butter, and drank soda pop with sugar in it, but we were never overweight because we were always outside playing. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle, and no one actually died from this. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then rode down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes, After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the street lights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. NO CELL PHONES!!!!! Unthinkable! We did not have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X-Boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, video tape movies, surround sound, personal cell phones, personal computers, or Internet chat rooms. We had friends! We went outside and found them. We played dodge ball, and sometimes, the ball would really hurt. We fell out of trees, got cut and broke bones and teeth, and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. They were accidents. No one was to blame but us. Remember accidents? We had fights and punched each other and got black and blue and learned to get over it. We made up games with sticks and tennis balls and ate worms, and although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes, nor did the worms live inside us forever. We rode bikes or walked to a friend's home and knocked on the door, or rang the bell or just walked in and talked to them. Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Some students weren't as smart as others, so they failed a grade and were held back to repeat the same grade. Horrors! Tests were not adjusted for any reason. Our actions were our own.  Consequences were expected. The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke a law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law. Imagine that! This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers and problem solvers and inventors, ever. The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all. And you're one of them! Congratulations! Please pass this on to others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before lawyers and government regulated our lives, for our own good !!!!! People under 35 are WIMPS!!!

I must say this is so true....word for word! As i was reading this is was taking me back to my teen years! And yes, I remember a game we made up (the west street gang that is) and had so much fun doing so.....................On my street that i grew up (very small street, i believe only 20 houses, i was trying to count the houses in my head, and i think i got it right) well anyways, there were 37 children and 8 of them were my brothers and sisters! It was funny, the closest thing to cell phone was when my DAD would yell out the door.... COREEN,PAM,TRACIE,DANNA,JOEY,LYNDA,KELLY,MICHAEL,SUZIE (BIG BREATH) ITS TIME FOR DINNER! I can remember hearing him blocks away and boy you didn't want to be late for dinner either! Boy we got a beating if we were! No policemen ever came to our house because of physical abouse heck, our teachers used to hit us then too! Guess what, we all are still living and have done great things in our lives, not one is a menace to society (not ever, i might ad) My abuser parents are still alive (lol) they are truly remarkable....i thank them for the life i had growing up every so often, god i wish i could play that game just one more time!

USING THEIR BRAINS....UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN RIGHT & WRONG....BEING A GOOD PERSON & LIVING BY THE GOLDEN RULE ARE ALL THINGS OF THE PAST. A PAST, I MIGHT ADD, I'M SO HAPPY I GREW UP IN!!!I WONDER IF THIS IS WHAT MY PARENTS THOUGHT ABOUT US....ALWAYS TELLING US HOW EASY WE HAD IT....NOT HAVING TO WALK 10 MILES >>UP HILL BOTH WAYS<<  TO SCHOOL ...IF THEY WHERE LUCKY ENOUGH TO GO! HATE TO THINK WHAT THE NEXT GENERATION WILL TURN OUT TO BE! THE GOLDEN YEARS   I CAN'T WAIT...BOY ARE WE GONNA BE SCREWED!!!GLAD YOU LIKED IT! TAKE CARE!>HUGS<PAM

Thank you for posting that. It seriously brought a tear to my eye remembering the good old days! I could relate to everything! "
"
One thing it made me remember was the way my parents would call me and my brother into the house after a full day of playing in the street was to flash the porch light on and off. "
"
Oh and the Board of Education! Hated that board! Nice sturdy plank of wood that I got my a$$ spanked with! LOL"
"
And the nights of playing Monolopy with my Mom and brother. Not in front of the TV playing Wii."
"
Thanks!"

Yes ishin its the second part of 'children of the corn' where they decide to let us live a little longer? cause whose gonna buy the beer? LMAO"
Seriously though, as mben said, those were the days. (except some of us were a little chubby) no not me. After my daughter was born, I asked my mom one day, 'why on earth did you give me a butter and sugar sandwich (wonder bread) every day after school? she said 'to give you some energy - 5 years old and walking a l/2 mile to and from school?' but....topping it off with the b.& s. sandwich. mom's lucky she's not dead. LOL
