Are we meant to live that close to the ocean? Those houses look like they are/were just a couple of feet from the ocean. And the roller coaster and ferris wheel pictures ..... <a href="http://latino.foxnews.com/latino/news/slideshow/2012/10/31/photos-hurricane-sandy-wipes-out-seaside-heights/?intcmp=related#slide=2" >Hurricane Sandy Wipes Out Seaside Heights, NJ</a>I can see this happening to those Malibu homes in CA too ...... anywhere that people live so close to water. So sad!

I looked at the pics and image 29 is where I used to live thats Mantoloking, the storm took out about thee houses on either side of the bridge, from the bay to the ocean. It also took route 35 north and south bound lanes. All of the houses on the ocean had very large dunes and large beaches, the dunes were so large that you could not see the beach or the ocean from the first level of the houses. The storm just demolished the beaches the houses were never that close to the water. And it was that way all along the island. It's so bad out there that property owners can only go over with a police escort to recover some things, and then no one is allowed back until after the first of the year. It's so sad most of the people in Seaside Heights that lived there all year around were not wealthy people most were on some kind of assistance they had little before now they have nothing. And now we are getting another nor-easter this week with high winds and rain.

Just goes to show you how strong water is .... to be able to take out beaches like that. I read that there were mandatory evacuations and that people had 5 minutes to gather up some personal items because they were not going to be allowed back into their homes for months . How does life get back to normal for those who lost so much? And for those who have to live in a shelter until God knows when? I feel for everyone affected by this storm and for those who are gonna get hit with this new storm. No power + gas in short supply = no heat. Nor' Easter = COLD!

we got 1 foot of snow and more power outages...it's a real mess I lost power last night but it came back on tonite but lots more downed trees. So many people displaced and not enough houseing they are taking bus loads to Atlantic city and wildwood. I really don't know whats going to happen because we still have alot of people without power,heat and gas is hard to get, I just pray for them all and do whatever I can my husband bought six generators and is giving them out to people, and all the contractors are getting calls from other towns asking if we have generators to lend fema. So we have been asking people to lend out thier generators when thier power goes on. I hope this is the end of bad weather for awhile.

As I was driving around yesterday in the heat, my sis-in-law sent me a picture of their house blanketed in snow. She was loving it (she's an Arizona native) and so were their Siberian Huskies. They are ok near Boston and was not affected that bad by Sandy and this current storm.Millie, I feel for everyone that has gotten hit by mother nature again. They didn't even have time to recover before getting hit again. It's wonderful that there are people like you and your husband doing what you can for those in need. I am amazed that FEMA is asking to borrow generators. Isn't that what the federal program is about? Federal Emergency Management Agency. You would think that they were the life savers and not the other way around. Meaning citizens having to help FEMA out so FEMA can do their job properly. 

 What's wrong with that picture? Anwyay, here's hoping you all pull through this, that mother nature gives you all a break and people can start getting their lives back to normal.
