Slot Overview
Get your sea legs ready and batten down the hatches because we are about to board Real Time Gaming’s new slot release – Ghost Ship. I played Ghost Ship for the first time today and I am looking forward to playing it again soon. It would appear this new game was inspired by a legendary ghost ship, namely the Flying Dutchman. The Flying Dutchman has been appearing in literature since the 1700’s and the story is still being told today in movies like “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl”. In a nutshell the story of the Flying Dutchman is that of a cursed ship that can never make port, the Flying Dutchman and its crew are essentially damned to roam the seas forever. Throughout the years it was also commonly believed by seamen to be an omen of doom for any sailors who spotted this cursed ship usually bringing catastrophic weather conditions with it.
Ghost Ship was RTG’s second slot game released in March 2015. Now as we all know, some slot games feature multiple bonus features that can be triggered somewhat regularly and each will usually have a fair to moderate pay out. Other slot games with fewer bonus features offer the chance at much larger payouts when the features are triggered. If you ask me, RTG’s Ghost Ship falls into that second category or what is often referred to as a highly volatile slot game in which the pay outs are less frequent but typically much larger.
The symbols on this new game are just as macabre and haunting as the name of the game suggests and I think they are ghoulishly delightful! Ghost Ship’s symbols consist of a brass bell bearing the name of the Flying Dutchman, sunken treasure, cannons, and a mermaid figurehead carving along with the standard 10-through-Ace symbols and the wild Ghost Captain and Ghost Ship scatter.
The wild Ghost Captain substitutes for all other symbols except scattered Ghost Ships. In addition to the Free Games feature, which is Ghost Ship’s only bonus feature, there is a unique twist to the wild Ghost Captain symbol and that twist is that it may randomly fill the rest of the reel anywhere that the Ghost Captain OR the Ghost Ship appear during regular game play turning all the symbols in said reel(s) wild.
The Free Games feature is triggered when three or more Ghost Ships appear anywhere on the reels. Two free games will be awarded for each Ghost Captain or Ghost Ship on the triggering spin.
Example: When I triggered the Free Games, initially I only had three Ghost Ships, but then as I just mentioned above, the Ghost Captain filled two of the three reels that contained the Ghost Ship symbol giving me seven symbols, at two free games each, for a total of fourteen free games! During the Free Games the Ghost Captain fills any and all reels containing the wild symbol or the scatter symbol for each spin during the feature. If the feature is triggered by four scatters the prizes will be doubled and if the feature is triggered with five scatters the wins are multiplied by ten! This feature is where Ghost Ship offers you the chance to win some serious loot!
Ghost Ship has two Progressive Jackpots – a Major Jackpot and a Minor Jackpot, each of these Progressive Jackpots can be randomly triggered at the end of any spin with no minimum betting requirement. The Major Jackpot can grow to be $1,000,000 and the Minor Jackpot can get up to $250,000.
